256 MB of RAM
Windows 2000, XP or Windows Vista operating system
100 MB of free hard disk space
800 x 600 or higher resolution display with 16-bit or better color quality
DirectX 7.0a interface
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Internet browser or higher
10 Mbps TCP/IP network interface adapter

Student PC

Pentium III processor at 500 MHz or equivalent

Windows 2000, XP or Windows Vista operating system
55 MB of free hard disk space
600 x 480 or higher resolution display with 16-bit or better color quality
DirectX 7.0a interface
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Internet browser or higher
10 Mbps TCP/IP network interface adapter

The lab where the software is installed meets all of the software’s requirements.
The computers are Dell Pentium V with 17 inch screens, 60GB of hard drive space and 1GB of RAM.   Each computer has Microsoft Office and Publish It.  There are 2 printers available for student printing and one printer available specifically for the teacher.  The computers are connected to the school’s network and all have Internet Access.  The students have access to both Internet Explorer (7.0) and Mozilla Firefox.
The computers each have approximately 20GB of unused space, more than sufficient to hold the program SynchronEyes.

Once the decision had been made to utilize SynchronEyes to address this issue, plans were made to acquire the requisite number of server lab packages at $1200 each.  Each server package can run unlimited number of lab stations that are connected to it.  For this school there were 3 server packages purchased for each computer lab where the software is installed.  This would ensure the school’s compliance with the Smart Technologies  software licensing requirements.

Students will be provided with all instructional materials for class lessons.  There are no specific software instructions for students to have in order for the teacher to use SynchronEyes.

Privacy
SynchronEyes is designed as a product that will prohibit students from going to a website that is not authorized by the teacher.  .  The software is all controlled by the teacher’s computer.  All students signed the school’s acceptable use policy governing the rules for the school computer lab.

The lab where the subject course will be taught has 30 networked computers.  The total number of students in the class is 26 which ensures that each student has access to a computer.  Each computer has access to all of the required business application software that will be used in the course.  These include Microsoft Office and Publisher.

There are two computers equipped with Dragon Naturally Speaking that allows students with sight impairment to say and hear computer screens.  This software can also aid auditory learners who have difficulty with a visual style of learning.
